7 weeks & 3 years!!

It is crazy to think that our little peanut was born 7 weeks ago today.  We can't imagine what life was like without him.  He is growing like a weed and we have started to wear some of our 0-3 month clothes, although they are still a little big~ he doesn't look ridiculous.  Adrian still fits into his newborn clothes, although they are getting a bit tight length wise, especially when in our cloth diapers (more on these in a latter post).   We decided to get some updated measurements of Adrian today....he is now: 8 lbs. 3.2 oz. and 22 inches.  Wow!!

It has been great fun to watch Adrian grow and develop in the last couple of days.  We frequently get genuine smiles and get to watch him have interest in some of his toys.  He greatly enjoys his mobile above his changing table which has made diaper changes not quite as traumatic.

Today we pulled out another one of his toys and as you can see below he greatly enjoyed it!

Today is also our 3 year anniversary!  It is crazy to think about all the things that have changed in that time--everything from our relationship, our family structure, technology, etc.  We are taking our first date away from Adrian tonight and heading out to dinner.  It should be fun!  Here is a look back at our wedding 3 years ago.  It was an awesome day filled with awesome people.  We had the best wedding party and family there to help us celebrate.  Thank you all again, even 3 years later I wouldn't change a thing!

Grandma & Grandpa's Anniversary

Today is Grandma and Grandpa Stahnkes' 30 year wedding anniversary, and over the weekend we all got to go out and celebrate with them during a wonderful dinner at the Lake Elmo Inn!  Here our some pictures of the event.

Photos.

A couple weeks back, the Pabst girls (Teri, Danielle, and Heidi) stopped by on there way through town to meet the little man.  Danielle (who is expecting a little guy, Holden, in July) is an amazing photographer who brought along her camera and snapped a few shots of Adrian.  It is awesome to get more pictures of all of his amazing faces.

We are a growin'....

Things have been good around here.  We are working really hard to get on a schedule of sorts.  It is working pretty good, except whenever we seem to have it down, we seem to hit another roadblock.  The first one was our first cold.  Poor Adrian had a snotty nose, and is NOT a fan of the nose suction.  After about 3 days, we seem to have gotten over that, and have now hit another growth spurt and need to eat constantly!  It is nice though that Kyle is doing one feeding during the overnight hours--but we are still eating about every 3 hours through the night.  Kyle and I are hopeful that we are pushing towards longer chunks of sleep soon though.  :)

My guess is that we are boarding on about 7.5 lbs.  We will be doing official measurements soon, I promise.  Adrian is fitting nicely into his Newborn clothes, and there are things that are boarding on getting tight, but for now we still our rockin' the newborn clothes.  Kyle is saying that we aren't going to hit our 3 month clothes until almost 6 months...we will see!
Adrian seems to enjoy his nuk at times.  He enjoys cuddling during nap time, especially since there is frequently no sleeping.  I don't mind the cuddling though!

Father's Day

Kyle got to celebrate his first Father's Day.  It all started with Adrian waking his Daddy up and then they got to sing songs together and play while Mommy made breakfast.

Adrian gave his Daddy a new coffee travel mug, to make sure he always has his coffee where ever he goes, especially then he will have the energy to play with Adrian when he can.

The afternoon was then spent with the grandparents.  Dinner with Grandpa Stahnke, Great-Grandpa Dahlman, and Great-Papa Stahnke and then dinner with Papa Kruizenga.  It was a good day.

Below is Adrian all smiles about celebrating his Daddy!

1 month!

Wow! It is definitely crazy to think about how a month has flown by since Adrian was born.  Lots has happened~ there have been good times and some hard moments but overall it has been a good first month.  Kyle and I were talking while eating dinner tonight about how the first month has got to be the most difficult. This is in our mind because of how the newborn relies on us as parents for so much (food, warmth, comfort, shelter, love, entertainment, etc.) but yet they can not communicate wants/needs and everyone is working hard at knowing each other.

Here is a re-cap of some of the first month events (good and bad):
~Adrian dropped from his birth weight of 6 lbs. down to 5 lbs. 7 oz.
~ At his two week check, Adrian was 5 lbs. 12 oz. and up to 20 inches (from 19)
~ He finally went over his birth weight on June 3rd, where he weighed in at 6 lbs. 3 oz.'
~We visited Dr. Stannard many times to check our weight, but everything else checked out well.
~ Our umbilical cord stump fell off at 6 days old.
~We learned that we have a great voice for crying during diaper changes and when I'm really, REALLY hungry after sleeping for a while.
~We went on our first adventure to the cabin over Memorial Day weekend, and did a pretty good job while there and an amazing job on the car ride.
~Adrian got to meet many friends and family, and was the recipient of many amazing gifts.
~Adrian began to be a pro at eating, and has decided that he likes to eat all the time. :)
~Mom and Dad have given Adrian the nickname of: Hungry Hungry Hippo
~Adrian began to use cloth diapers.
~Within this last week, Adrian began to have a bottle during one feeding a day and has ventured into the land of nuks.  (He doesn't always know what to think about the pacifier though.)

So, as of today, we have a one month old baby.  He is still a peanut (even looks more so with his cloth diapers on), but using our household scientific measuring system, Adrian is now....6 lbs. 12 oz. and 21 inches long.  He is a growing boy.
