Spring Break/Babymoon

We were lucky enough to get away for the last week to the wonderful southern hills of Missouri.  We spent the week at the Wilderness Club which is part of Big Cedar Lodge.  (If you ever get a chance, it is an amazing place--check it out: http://www.bigcedar.com/)

This was also the place that Kyle took me on our honeymoon, and although it wasn't quite the same as June/July weather, we were graced with 50s and 60s for the week, and did enjoy the time away.  Here are some pictures from the trip (my mom and dad went too.)  Sorry for the picture dump! :)

A view across the hillside.

We saw a woodchuck! (and got super close)

Mom & Dad Stahnke enjoying the nice weather.

Us. (the belly is kind of hiding, hehe)

Beautiful flowers and greenish grass.  Proof that spring does come (WI you should take some hints.)

The paddleboat adventure.

Kyle needed a nap half way through the adventure.

He woke up eventually and decided that a picture of me and baby needed to happen.

It was a great trip.  Next vacation adventure will include a little one. :)

Nursery (so far)

As promised, here are some pictures of the nursery so far.  We are still working on details and decorations and other finishing touches, but it is looking good!  It is a lot farther than it was at Christmas, and it still surprises us on a daily basis that it is actually looking like a nursery compared to the old office/bedroom that it once was.  Enjoy!

The view from the doorway.

A straight on shot toward the crib

Looking toward the "reading center", where I am guessing we will spend a bit of time (eating, reading, rocking, etc.)

The other side of the room with the changing table and dresser.
Hope you enjoyed!  We will post again as more of it comes together. :)

30+ weeks

So as of last Friday I went on Spring Break.  I had great intentions of blogging on Saturday, Sunday, etc. and now it is here Wednesday and I am doing it.  Well I hit 30 weeks last Saturday and the problem is, Kyle and I are away on a Spring Break/Babymoon trip in Southern Missouri.  It is great to get away, but I have one problem.  I took pictures of the updated nursery (we had our first baby shower just over a week ago), and have been taking pictures, but alas I forgot the cord to transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer...oops!  So you will have a modified blog entry, and then when we get home again next weekend, I will update.

How far Along: 30 weeks + 4 days
Size of baby: Baby A is just over 3 pounds
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have gained about 17 pounds
Maternity Clothes: A combination of maternity bottoms and some (larger) non-maternity tops
Gender: BOY!
Movement: Lots of movement, especially in the evenings.
Sleep: Not much of an issue, but I do wake up to flip over from side-to-side all night long
What I miss: sleeping on my stomach.
Cravings: Not much lately.
Symptoms: I feel as though there is an alien inside of me at most times- also, I have started to have some lower back pain (but not to bad...yet!)
Best Moment of the last couple weeks: Getting things put together in the nursery.  It is starting to actually feel like we are having a baby!

1st Baby Shower

My best friend Brooke, my sister-in-law Rachael and my aunt Cindy hosted an amazing baby shower in honor of the little one.
SOME OF THE AWESOME DECORATIONS MADE BY RACHAEL
GAMES WERE PLAYED!

That is supposedly how big around I am.

Some knitted friends that my mom made.

Baby A was spoiled by gifts.  Things are coming together for him. :)

28 weeks + 2 days.

Sorry this blog post is a bit late. School life has been crazy and as many know of you know, there has been drama surrounding the state of WI, and that has kept my brain away from posting as well as the snow storm that has hit here this weekend.  Today ends my unplanned 4 day weekend, and now it is 3 days at school before conferences.  YIKES!  Lots of work ahead of me in the next 2 weeks before Spring Break!  YEAH!  But here is a look at how things are going on the pregnancy front.

How far Along: 28 weeks
Size of baby: Baby A is about 2 1/2 pounds
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have gained about 9 pounds (real numbers to come tomorrow after our appointment)
Maternity Clothes: A combination of maternity and non-maternity clothes--the regular clothes are getting a bit tight.
Gender: BOY!
Movement: Lots of movement, especially in the evenings.
Sleep: Still going strong, except I have been getting up more frequently and can't sleep in anymore.
What I miss: sleeping on my stomach.
Cravings: Not much lately.
Symptoms: it is getting harder to do things by my feet (pick things up, put socks on, etc.)
Best Moment of the last couple weeks: Feeling movement more often

Here is a picture of the "theme" that we are going for in the nursery.  I am including numbers and letters with these  primary color themes and some jungle animals.  This is the rug:

Tomorrow we have another appointment, which will be the last of the monthly appointments, and now we will start going about every 2 weeks.  Just a sign that the time that our baby boy will be here with us.  We are excited to meet him!

26 weeks!

It has been busy around here.  This weekend Kyle has helped me to finish cleaning out the nursery and then he preceded to paint the walls and shampoo the carpet.

Before this weekend (although this is quite a ways further than what it was at Christmas):

What it looks like today with painted walls and clean carpet:

And me at 26 weeks:

How far Along: 26 weeks
Size of baby: Baby A is 14 1/2 inches and about 2 pounds
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have gained about 9 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: A combination of maternity and non-maternity clothes
Gender: BOY!
Movement: Lots of movement...many have felt him already.
Sleep: Still going strong, except I have been getting up more frequently.
What I miss: sleeping on my stomach.
Cravings: Ketchup and milk
Symptoms: it is getting harder to do things by my feet (pick things up, put socks on, etc.)
Best Moment of the last couple weeks: seeing our baby again and feeling the hiccups (it was a surreal feeling)

We also went to the doctor this week to have a re-check on the placenta and got to see our buddy again.  He was a yawning boy at the time, with lots of mouth movement, but we were able to semi-get some pictures of his face and also double check that he is a boy.  That seems to be a definite--Kyle says he is proud!  So here are some pictures of his sweet little face (and his arm):

Baby A definitely got to celebrate Christmas too!

The whole family.  Buddy was tired of pictures by this point. :)
